Angry Windows disk check destroyed my files

Hello all,

I have a 250 GB hd (FAT 32) which I use for my files and a 120 GB hd which I use for my Operating Systems (and files). Today I realised that I had to reinstall windows (on my 120 hd). The first screen I got when I first loged to Windows was the blue check disk screen which was about my 250 GB hd. Although I had checked this disk for errors before I start the windows installation (with fsck.vfat) the results were ok. When the windows disk check finished I realised that I had lost most of my files (160 GB). I am sure these files though had no problem....
Anyway, windows converted the "corrupted" folders to files but the names of these files (folders) are ok. Is there any way that I can save my files (convert them back to folders) ?
