I've been trying to get my own website for like years but every time i signup for one they bill and so fort so i get a suddomain website... you know the ones to go

Well in linux ive seen that you can sometimes distros will ask you for a Domain Name or you can Set a domain name for ur box.. but then i cant access it from the internet only from the network im on..

so my question is for linux can you have YOUR OWN website

if for example you set you computer to be

www.whatever.com

wil i be able to access that website if imake my computer like that?

The name of your site will be anything you want, if it's not already owned.


I think what your saying you want is domain registration and directDNS service...

no problem, comes with free email forwarding if you don't have an smtp server, and DNS server. $5 for directDNS and $15 for domain name per year.

The only thing that sucks is you have to pay a fee, it's not a lot but it is still a fee.
