nvdia doubt

hi,

i have a redhat7.0-kernel2.4.3-XFree864.0.2 and Windows XP dual booting...

the problem(??) is concerned with how my AGP card is denoted in either of these OSes ..

in linux it says...nVidia Riva TNT 2 | Vanta
while in Windos XP device manger says:nVidia Riva TNT 2 M64

i had in fact bought Riva TNT2 M64.why does linux say its Vanta?should i replace the driver provided by XFree86 ?

pls help..

bye...

aren't vanta and the m64 the same chipset? i think just the riva tnt 2 part should be enough to determine what driver you need.

hmmm.. i'm not so sure...

i dunno whether this is worth mentionng...coz it says "creative"
check out this article:

http://www.xbitlabs.com/video/creative-m64.html

---->>>>according to nVidia, its Riva TNT2 M64 is not a Vanta but
an absolutely new chipset with Riva TNT2 core and a 64bit
memory bus.

bye......

Vanta Graphics Core: 128-bit
Pixels per Second: 200 Million
Memory Bandwidth: 1.0Gb/sec.

TNT M64 Graphics Core: 128-Bit
Pixels per Second: 250 Million
Memory Bandwidth: 1.2Gb/sec

This is quoted directly from nVIDIA's offical website.

Does it crash in windows? if not then its prolly a m64..I'd prolly change the driver in linux..(you good always rip it out and see if there anything on the card that'll tell you)
Windows is usually good for probing vid cards..
