X-Server Problems with Nvdia Card

I have an ASUS mother board with an onboard AGP (Nvidia). At times when I boot my machine, the X-Server starts without any trouble. Otherwise it gives me an error saying that X-Server could not be started. Then it asks for the root password and tries to reconfigure X-Server.

Then it attempts to restart X-Server. This goes on in an endless loop, until I pull the plug on my box.

Then I start the machine after sometime, when it might work or might not work. This is like a "Sometimes Error" which is driving me crazy.

How do I figure out whats preventing the GUI from getting loaded? The error log is not very descriptive either, but I could post it if you want.
