hi all,

and in kmix i cant seem to find the input volume switch(or capture volume) on my old dellmachine (suse10.3) i could but that machine has kaboomed now
so how do i set input volume HIGH???/?
sorry if this is in wrong section i couldnt work out if it was hardware or software...
thanks theacerguy,
I'm not sure what you mean by 'input volume'. There are two sliders that affect volume I hear, Master and PCM, if the audio application is playing a stream, or an .mp3. There is also a slider for Line, which is an input, from an external device.
I'm running Kmix 3.5. You can configure the adjustments that appear in Kmix, Settings --> Configure Channels, you can add or remove sliders. Some may do nothing, depending on the sound card and driver you are running. Try the lot and see what you get.
I once had a laptop where the volume coundn't be changed until I:
R-clicked the speaker icon on the panel, selected "Select Master Channel" and set it to [x] Front YMMV.

on 3.5 i could yes but on 4.* i cant....
Have you tried to use alsamixer, or alsamixergui? This would bypass the KDE front end. Are you running a sound server? I had a lot of problems with Pulse Audio. Finally ditch it, installed aRts and my problems disappeared.
