I replied to an earlier thread but no one looked at it prolly cos the problem was fixed in that thread but here it is again:

Since posting that I have tried installing via .rpm (found a link on another thread here), and installing via rpm went through without any errors coming up but now it freezes when loading into X instead of putting me into a console.



I was wondering if I did a reinstall of Mandrake 9 would I be able to do so without overwriting /home and will that overwrite the stuff ups I have made? I am all keen to give it a go of my own accord but would just like confirmation or someone to let me know if there is anything I need to pay particular attention to when doing so.

Otherwise if anyone knows how I can correct the dilemma I have put myself in that would be awesome.

Heve you tried to run X without the drivers (using default ones, without acceleration)? It may be a problem not with the drivers.
