when trying to run nvidia's new installer for my geforce card, it says that modules.dep is not an ELF file ( or something like that ). The only reason I can think is that I edited modules.dep to get nvnet.o going. Anyways, it allows me to continue installation anyways, but its not working correctly. How do I make modules.dep an ELF file again, or is this caused by something else?

Also, I've installed Mesa 5.01, and in the nvidia-opengl howto it says to replace the files in /usr/X11R6/include/GL with the x86 ones after mesa is finished installing. the howto was written for mesa 3.4, so do I need to do this?

also, since the howto refers to the old nvidia tarballs, what do I do about that section of the howto?

it sounds to me that your doing a little more than you have to, but then again, maybe you do have to, but before we find out if you really have to do that stuff, did you :
