I can't get it. I keep getting the 'Sorry, due to abuse we now require you to be a member in order to take the quiz.
To become a member click here.' message...even though I am a member and I am logged in.

You need to have cookies enabled to take the quiz. I should probably add that to the error message. BTW the quiz is going to get a complete overhaul. Is this a feature that members find useful (especially if it was implemented better)?

On some of the questions you need to specify which distribution is in use; for instance the "runlevel 5" question didn't have available the command I have to use in Mandy 8.1; "/sbin/init -t0 5". However I do think it's a good start.

well in that case you should be aware of common alternatives names for common commands....

Thumbs up

jeremy-

COOL! I didn't know there were quizzes here. I dug it. Only got 60/100, but that was just what I know - no man pages or books (honest!). Keep 'em comin' as you get the time.

I think that it means that 60% falls in the 51st to 80th percentiles, i.e. you scored better than the median (median being 50%)

I have the same problem that Thymox has, but I have cookies enabled. I even changed it to prompt me if I want to accept cookies and it still won't let me take the quiz. I'm using MS Internet Explorer.

Very strange, this is the first I have heard of the problem. The quiz does not set any cookies, it just verifies that you have a cookie from the forums. Try doing the following:

Logout
Close all browser windows
manually delete all LinuxQuestions cookies (*should* only be 1)
Open browser and log in
Try the quiz

If that does not work let me know.

I'll try that. Funny thing - I switched to Opera and it worked! I had tried it from IE and NS before. IE has had problems with cookies before. I shoulda known!

reply to LQ quiz problem logging in

I have the same problem as several others have mentioned re the quiz-- get the message about " due to abuse ..... you must be a member logged on even though I am a member. Took the tips of Jeremy but no luck. Tried it using Netscape Opera and Mozilla, also removed all cookies and re-enabled cookies, still no luck. I have also had this same problem numerous times when trying to post or send email to a member-- get a screen saying not authorized to do that. What's up with that?

I had the option browse site with cookies enabled but that didn't seem to be enough. I had to enable the option automatically logon to the site, to be able to do the quiz.
I disabled it again because I don't want that option on, but it seems the quiz requires that option to be on. I don't have any troubles with anything else on the forums.
