I was wondering if there is a good script or utility that can provide server or network status via a web interface. I am looking for something to possibly show bandwidth utilization, disk usage, up/downtime, etc. for multiple devices on a network.
Cool. PHP isn't a problem, as I currently use that for my main site. The sysinfo is definitely what i was looking for for a single-machine basis, but is there something that maybe would show SNMP data or possibly a network-management type of script?
Depending on your PHP knowledge, you can probably code some more useful infomation. I know PHPSYSINFO can show NFS or Samba mounted network volumes, which is cool. What specifically are you looking for?
Unfortunately, I have very minimal PHP knowledge. I can basically understand what is going on in a script, but not to great detail, however I definitely couldn't write my own script.
I suppose I am looking for a combination of things. Basically, I am setting up a WAN, linking my location to various locations around my city. I want something that can show me online/offline status of DNS, mail, web, etc. servers (much like http://www.ipshosting.net/ does), but with ping times, data transfer graphs (much like MRTG, and maybe even with an implementation of MRTG), and even information specific to individual servers and network devices. (Like http://netsaint.kirenet.com/ or even http://www.dayanahost.com/status.cfm)
This is a lot to ask, and it doesn't all have to be in one application, but it would be nice if it is. As I write this, I am thinking that maybe what I am looking for is some sort of network management tool, such as OpenNMS or Nagios. Maybe I'll just stick with those solutions. The more I look at the Nagios site, the more I like it, and the more I feel it suits my needs. Still, if anyone has any suggestions, I will definitely take them into consideration.
