how did you configure X? I like xf86config text based choice selection and it gives the cleanest easyest to read/edit XF86Config file ever, easy to change that

Section "Monitor"

Identifier "My Monitor"
HorizSync 31.5 - 82.0
VertRefresh 60 - 100

EndSection

thats my monitor entree, very easy hopefully that hlps
