Need Advice for TV OUT on Radeon 7500 PCI

Hey guys,

I've got an old Dell Dimension L700CXE with a 700 mhz celeron processor with about 192 mb ram and a Radeon 7500 PCI (with tv out).

I want to use the tv out on that Radeon card to play videos on my tv and don't care about anything else. But I'm not sure what Linux distribution would be best to use for this or if it is even possible. What would you all recommend?

Thanks

This works the same way on any distro.
Firts make sure you have the commercial drivers installed.
The configuration is done in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.

Just post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf once you have Linux installed.

ok. However, do you think it would be a problem that the drivers are not made by ATI? I'm assuming whatever on this page http://dri.freedesktop.org/wiki/ (open source drivers) is what I would be using.

I was under the impression that all ATI open source drivers don't support TV-OUT. But hopefully I'm wrong

Thanks

You can get the closed source ones here:
http://support.ati.com/ics/support/d...owledge&folder

Most distros have prebuild binaries for them as well.
I don't really know that much about ATI since I use nVidia(with s-video TV-OUT).
