Need a new Distro

I've been using SuSE 9.1 and it's ok, just not what i want. I'm still relatively new to linux, but i do know the basics and dont' mind getting a little dirty. I was to have a distro that i can config the way i want and only have the things i want. Also, i want to use WindowMaker or Fluxbox. I just like them more than KDE and Gnome. What would be a good distro for me to try out? Thanks

Sure I think Slackware 10.0 would work great for you! The install is simple and easy, you can pick packages and windows managers on install so you get exactly what you want. Fluxbox comes with it . If you don't want KDE and Gnome just tell it no when it asks you to install it. Slackware is one of the easiest installs I've done. Good luck let me know if you like it.

Feather and DSL both have Fluxbox as default and they are both small distros and Debian so you can add what you want.

I downloaded the iso's last night. Gonna install sometime today. What programs does the cd contain? I'm going to be using my comp. for video and graphics editing. So i need blender, cinelerra (which i had a hard time getting to work on SuSE), and The Gimp. Which of these come with the distro cds? Also, will Cinelerra be had to install on slack like it was on SuSE?

Slackware comes with The Gimp. I don't think it comes with blender or cinelerra, but I just downloaded and unpacked blender it works fine. I'll have to download Cinelerra and let you know on that one. So far your good for two of the programs. I'll let you know how cinelerra works.

*UPDATE*

Heres how I downloaded Blender and Cenelerra.
Blender:
Goto a shell
then
Code:
gzip -d blender-2.36-linux-glibc2.2.5-i386-1.tar.gz
Code:
tar -xvf blender-2.36-linux-glibc2.2.5-i386-1.tar
this will create a blender directory in the current directory. Inside that directory will be the blender executable.

Cenelerra:
First we get the RPM.
next we install it.
Code:
 rpm -i --force --nodeps cinelerra-1.2.2-1.i386.rpm
after this command is completed it install cinelerra into your /usr/bin directory. Just link to that directory with an Icon or run the cinelerra from a bash shell and your good to go. I already installed The GIMP when I installed my system. Blender and Cinelerra installed without any problems on my Slackware 10.0 system with the method I explained.

Thanks. BTW, I haven't used cinelerra much. Used to use Premiere in Doze, but i now use no M$ products b/c i didn't want to have to pay $500 for a prog. nor did i want to steal it. So, my next ?.... I used to do Background replacement stuff in aftereffects. Can you do anything like that in Cinelerra? Like green screen stuff?

Slackware is really basic and easy. If you know vi or other command line editors along with reading abilities, you too can use Slackware.
