Must I restart USB each time ...

Hello all,
I have installed a usb mouse in RH7.2

It's so weird. I tried to boot RH7.2 without the usb mouse plug in. Then I tried to cat /dev/input/mice, the device not found. So I restart the X and plug the usb mouse again. This time, after cat /dev/input/mice, my usb mouse work fine and never freeze. Now each time I boot my linux, I have to do the same thing again. I wonder if there something wrong.

Any reply is appreciated!

Open an Xterm or console window
cd (change directory) to /etc/X11
edit XF86Config-4
scroll down to the input device section containing your mouse
change protocol to "IMPS/2"
change device to "/dev/input/mice"
save file
You should be good to go now, all assuming that you have USB support loaded or loading on startup etc...Which it sounds like you do since the mouse does work after you do that thing you do.
