You have to have a video card in the system your playing the video on, I stream video's from my server all the time to my workstation where I have mplayer installed.
To be honest I've just finished up mplayer intstalls on both mine and my wife's linux boxes and I'd Highly that you do not use rpm's. Tarballs are far, far better and easier.
Using an rpm is like watching someone else drink a fine glass of wine instead of you drinking it yourself.
yes gmplayer works...
... one last doubt about gmplayer... how can I have a full screen... when I click the small rectangular box, it simply says
MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: key_events
- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and
disassembly. For details, see DOCS/bugreports.html#crash.b.
- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your gcc
version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read DOCS/bugreports.html
and follow the instructions there. We can't and won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug.
Does this information come up as there is no video card on my compu?

the video card is what your monitor is connected too. you can't have a monitor working if you don't have it connected to the pc, and it can't connect to the pc without a video card. i'm sorry i can't help u with ur problems, and i'm hoping by now u have fixed them, but if i where you, i would seriously consider removing mplayer, and reinstalling it from src. i always thought rpm are so much easier, but they're not.
what he isnt getting is that he is prolly using a built in video chip not a card but your calling it a card....+ he has no idea what he is doing at all and should have learned by installing something else first:\
Well, that was long ago that I had posted for information on installing mplayer using rpms. But after that experience, I have been able to install mplayer for many of my frnds.. thanks to LQ!!!
