You can mount any device at any place on the filesystem tree:
"mkdir /somedir/anotherdir/newdir"
(or simply "mkdir newdir" if you are already in /somedir/anotherdir)
mount /dev/devicename newdir (add pathname to newdir if you are not in the directory immediately above)
(mount must be run as root)
Be sure that you do not mount a device to a directory with data in it---you will not be able to see that data and you could lose it.

Once you have a mount point, you can link it anywhere you want. (ln command)

What linux distribution, version and desktop are you running?
linux does not have separate drive letters for drives and partitions like windows. All devices are mounted in the filesystem tree under /. For convenance most distributions use /mnt or /media as a central location for non OS partitions and removable media. So in the /mnt or /media directory you should see other directories like cdrom, floppy etc and in your case also d.

You can create desktop shortcuts.
