Merging freespace and an EXT3 partition

Hello!

I have installed Ubuntu 7.04 a few days ago and gave it 5GB of space.
I want to enlarge the HDA-2 (ubuntu) partition by taking space from my windows partition and giving to linux.
I resized my win one with gparted and created 5GB of free space in between ntfs and hda-2 which is the linux partition.
I cannot for some reason merge the free space with the hda-2 nor can I do it after I create a new ext3 partion out of the free space!

What can I do??

You're probably booted from that partition.
Go get the gparted liveCD and use that to do the resizing.
