MBR, lilo: Ok, so how do I use my old kernel

I am using Slackware 10.2 and recently upgraded to the 2.6.8 kernel. I decided I wanted to rebuild my system and go back to the old kernel. I used the installation cd's just like the first time, repartitioned my hard drive, and installed Slackware all over again. Everything went well and my system was working, but with the same 2.6.8 kernel and the same farmiliar lilo dialog.
I tried running /sbin/lilo to rewrite the MBR with the kernel Slackware came with. This didn't seem to have any effect.

Somehow I think Slackware installed itself fine, but didn't touch the part of the disk that has lilo, even though I specifically told it to install lilo when I was running the installation CD.

Any ideas?

thanks,

-Matt

Did you modify the lilo.conf file to point to the old kernel also before running /sbin/lilo?

So, you overwrote the previous kernel and hard disk data? If yes, then you cannot revert back to what you had.

Or, if you have the old kernel images in say /boot, just add an entry for it in /etc/lilo.conf and run /sbin/lilo.
