Mandrake 8.1 ( Sync. Out of Range)

hello all need your help please. I just loaded Mandrake 8.1. All went well till reboot now I have this message bouncing across my monitor Samtron 78DF "Sync. Out Of Range". Does anyone have an Idea as to what I can do to get it in Sync. Please put in laymens terms as I am new to Linux. Thanks to any and all who are willing to offer solutions

does the linux startup happen, like the screen where all that technical junk scrolls down?

if so and it fails after that then it maybe a x windows problem which mighten be easy to fix, you may want to install mandrake again and tell it to startup in text mode or not install x windows.

Thank you nikah. I did reinstall about 1am this morning using the expert setup in this mode I was able to set the resolution to 800X600 and all works well so far. I will be asking questions quite frequently as I am a linux newbie. Thanks again.
