hi puru_09,

to revover your gnome-panel open a term of your flavour and start it manually by typing "panel". From now in should appear on every login again.

To switch to console while you are in graphic mode, you have to hit ALT + CTRL + F[1-5] instead of just ALT + F[1-5].

For logging in through console, open /etc/inittab and look out for a line like

id:5:initdefault:

This specifies the default runlevel on startup. Change it to

id:3:initdefault:

and reboot.

For others out there looking for a panel solution.

There are still problems in RH8 with the panel, but you can fix that if you go to rpmfind and download the latest rpm. There was a bug in there that was fixed in the summer but somehow RH didnt put it in with the release.

Does that help for 7.2 and 7.3? Someone test it out and respond please.
