Howdy all,
I have a virtual host on my apache server for my wife. It has its own root document directory. I have that directory bound to a subdirectory of her home folder. She accesses said home folder using samba, which has worked fine for us for a long time.
I access my home folder on that same machine with both samba and NFS. Previously, I've had some issues where NFS crashes, so I decided to shut it down until I can upgrade from RH9 to FC4. Now I'm only running samba. A couple of times when we experienced the NFS crash, my wife's virtual host root directory was wiped out. I figured NFS was somehow the culprit, as this directory was also shared via NFS.
This weekend we had a power outtage. Yet again, her directory was wiped out. The directory is there, but empty. When I looked through the logs at the time of the outtage, I saw on restart some entries where the kernel was finding orphaned inodes. I'm not sure whether or not this is related. However, I find it quite strange that during all these instances it was the exact same directory that was cleaned out.
Does anyone have any insights into the cause of this? Or any suggestions on how to go about troubleshooting it? Could this just be coinsidence?
Thanks in advance.
