Login Failed


People,
Trying to log into REDHAT and when I enter the user name and password for root keeps telling me "AUTHENTICATION FAILED"
donīt know what to do, canīt login in to REDHAT
can anyone help me ??

You can boot into single-user mode and reset the root password. Check my reply to this previous post...

STILL WITH PROBLEM

Pal,
Thanks for your answer, I did what youīve wrote, but the issue is tha when I tried to log in like ROOT it keeps telling me "AUTHENTICATION FAILED", no matter what i put as ROOT PASSWORD
Can you help me with this ?

Are you using "root" or "ROOT" as the username? It should be "root".

Otherwise, you can login to single-user mode, create a regular user account, reboot and login as the new user, then "su -" into root account when you need to do something as root. It will just ask for the root password then.
