I realize you've probably rebooted by now. Consider this as for future reference. If you have a ide drive attached at for example /dev/hdc/, the info about your drive can be found in /proc/ide/hdc/model.
Thanks guys, that worked, wanted to verify if this machine indeed was a DVD burner.
The weird problem I'm having is that every time I insert a DVD-RW the system auto ejects it.

I haven't used DVDRW's on Linux or ever burned discs on Linux at all at this stage so I assume I need to do something to prevent the system from ejecting DVDR's.
