Linux Server documentation

Hi all,

I'm currently writing the Technical Documentation for school project for which I've installed a Linux Server (Debian Stable). I've a simple short question, what do you write in the Technical Document about the server?

I can imagin that you will write down where you've installed specifyed pieces of software, which config files you've alterd etc etc.

What would be included in the Technical Documentation about the Server? Are there any Industrial guidelines? or common guidelines witch I can follow? Or are there any tools who can support me?

Many Thanks!!

There's a fairly simple answer to your question. What would you need to recover the server, should it crash or be corrupted?
