Linux on beige G3 without Mac OS?

Hello folks,

I have a beige 333 MHz G3 that I'd like to install Linux on. I could install Yellow Dog, but then I'd need to leave Mac OS installed, which is a pain to deal with.

Is there someother PPC distribution that I can run that will boot without Mac OS installed? Keep in mind that this is a pre-iMac beige G3-- I think it has what is called an "old world ROM."

look into some other distributions that support ppc. gentoo and debian are my personal picks which i know have ppc versions, though i've only used them on x86 systems. reading through the gentoo installation handbook for ppc would answer your question for gentoo, same for debian. both have well documented installation procedures online.
