Linux Grub not working after windows instal

I have fedora 17 and windows 7 installed on two different partitions

I installed windows 8 instead of 7 .. but then at startup the Linux grub does not appear .. windows boots automatically
I don't want to reinstall fedora .. how can I get the grub bootloader to work again ??

A common story...

When Windows is installed, it puts its bootloader on the drive--there's no option to avoid this.

Use any Linux live CD to boot up and re-install the Linux bootloader. Assuming that Fedora is using grub-II, this is a bit tedious, but not impossible.

To avoid this in the future, copy the mbr to a file somewhere so that you can restore it after Windows is installed.
