lilo Configuration question

I've got Redhat 7.3 dual booted with windows xp. Here's how i have it set up.
hda1 windows xp
hda2 /boot
hda3 /
hda4 /swap
hda5 fat partition

I've got the nt bootloader setup with my two boot choices, xp and RH 7.3 by adding boot directions for linux in c:\boot.ini (used the dd command if you follow me) It works fine, except that when i choose rh 7.3 from the menu, it opens up the lilo boot menu and i have to choose linux again. I want to get rid of this extra step, and boot right from the nt boot loader into linux without having to choose linux again in the lilo menu. I think i just have to take out the references to windows from my lilo.conf file, but i wanted some advice first. Here's my current lilo.conf:

prompt
timeout=50
default=WindowsXP
boot=/dev/hda2
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
message=/boot/message
lba32

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.18-3
label=linux
initrd=/boot/initrd-2.4.18-3.img
read-only
root=/dev/hda3
append="hdc=ide-scsi"

other=/dev/hda1
optional
label=WindowsXP

other=/dev/hda5
optional
label=DOS

What do i have to take out so that lilo assumes linux to be the only boot choice?

Thanks
Devon

What happens if you leave everything in, but make the default "linux" instead of "WindowsXP" ?

That should sort of fix your problem if you set the timeout to 1 second or less.

Remove the prompt line. Change timeout=50 to timeout=0 and change default=WindowsXP to default=linux. Then run /sbin/lilo. Also, do all of this as root.

You can remove these three lines if you want to. They are used to boot windowsxp.

other=/dev/hda1
optional
label=WindowsXP
