Knoppix persistant Image saving

Ok sorry i posted this here, couldnt find a knoppix forum.

I have knoppix 5.0.2 on cd to boot as a live cd.
I am trying to accomplish saving a persistant knoppix image onto a usb stick.
I have saved an image to the usb stick not encrypted and rebooted my pc.
At the bootup prompt I tried 3 different commands

I typed
knoppix home= scan
knoppix myconfig = /dev/sdb1
knoppix home = /dev/sda1
knoppix myconf = scan home = scan

I am sure my usb stick is sdb1 but that changes if I have other usb storage devices.
Any ideas why my desktop changes back and the usb stick doesnt get recognized ?

Jon
