Question kernel 2.5.63 help

when I compile the 2.5.63 kernel from the full download (not the patch) it says it compiles correctly with no errors. (make clean && make bzImage && make modules && make modules_install all work fine with no errors.)

But when I try to boot to the kernel I get about 15 errors from lsmod saying that QM_MODULES not implemented.

I was wondering if this was just the kerenl, or if I needed to update something?

I use slack 8.1.

ps. I know its a "beta" kernel, but when 2.6.0 comes out i want to be ready

Any help would be appreciated!

Sorry, but it is a developpement kernel, so what do you expect? Why can't you wait untill the 2.6 kernel will be released?

As far as I know, lsmod doesnt come with the kernel. Problem could be you're using your old lsmod with the new kernel?

In the location where you unpacked the kernel sources there should be a file Documentation/Changes. This file will tell you what the minimal versions are of all the tools you need.

But basically you need to update your module-init-tools for the new kernel. I guess the newer version would also work with your older 2.4 kernel but you might need to check that for sure.
