Installing VPN in Red Hat 7.3

I'm trying to install a VPN and it's asking for the directory that contains the linux kernal source code. I'm running Red Hat 7.3, where should I direct it to?

If you have installed kernel sources (kernel-sources.rpm) then the kernel tree is under
/usr/src/linux-2.4

I tired both the locations you guys mentioned, but it still says it can't find it. Maybe I didn't install the kernel source, how would I go about doing that now?

The only thing I have in the /usr/src/ directory is RedHat.

I found this on the Internet, is this what I need to do to install the source rpms?

# Login in as 'root' throughout all these steps. Mount Redhat linux cdrom and install the linux kernel source rpm

bash$ su - root
bash# cd /mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS
bash# rpm -i kernel-headers*.rpm
bash# rpm -i kernel-source*.rpm
bash# rpm -i dev86*.rpm
bash# rpm -i bin86*.rpm

Yeah, the example you got is about right, you might've have installed dev86 and bin86 packages already, just try it, but first make sure you have the right CD, RH 7.3 has 3 of them, right? Don't forget to mount CD first

Yep, the CD is mounted and I have the 1st of the 3 Red Hat 7.3 CD's in there. What exactly am I doing with the commands above? Just copying the source to my HD right?

also try instead of -i option -ihv (it will print hash marks # as it progresses and it will present human readable output (v option is for verbose))

I typed in the commands above and nothing happened, should the headers and source parts be something different?

What do you mean nothing happened, you had no output or what? If you ran
rpm -i package.rpm and you didn't get any output everything must be fine
do
rpm -q kernel-source
for instance to see if it got installed

I typed in exactly what was written in my post and I got no output, nothing happened.

I just did this also:
rpm -q kernel-source
and it says package kernel-source is not installed.

I'm probably typing something wrong, I don't see any files like kernel-headers or kernel-source on the CD though. I'm still a newbie, so bear with me plz.

ok try -ihv option instead of -i in the rpm command, see if you need some deps to satisfy
