i downloaded extraced and burnt sorcerer. i used cat /dev/hdd | md5sum and compared it to the the md5sum given by sorcerer, they match. when i boot my computer with sorcerer cd i get kernel panic not syncing, the 20 or so lines before that error are not human readable. i tried passing to kernel the option root=/dev/hdx (x being c or d depending of in which cdrom reader i inserted sorcerer cd).
i have amd64 cpu and i have downloaded the x86_64 version of sorcerer. my mobo is k8t neo2 and i have geforce 2 mx440 graphical accelerator. my hard drive is 160 gb maxtor drive with 8 mb of cache.
Do you have any USB devices plugged in? Depending on the kernel on the install CD and how much hardware detection it tires to do, those can cause problems. You might also try specifying noacpi on the kernel command line, which may help (I've heard stories of funny ACPI implementations doing weird things). If that doesn't work, post several lines above the error -- someone here may be able to interpret them.
i don't have any usb devices plugged in, i will try to pass the kernel noacpi option thanks.
how can i post several lines above error? keep in mind i do is the following: boot from sorcerer cd, (enter root=/dev/hdx parameter) hit enter and than the error comes up. afaik i can't use mouse.
