Anyone using sorcerer linux yet!
I just got a copy with a copy of Linux Format from England. Just want to know if anyone is runnig this very different version of Linux. It doesn't use a package managment system, instead it uses a source code managment system and compiles programs optimized for your particular system and can update itself from servers on the net. I've tried to install it twice and had problems, but i get further each time.

Yes, I am currently running it on one of my workstations. I'm still testing it and may keep it. I haven't decided yet. It's an interesting distro no matter how you look at it.
I'm not sure I would use it on a production machine though.

You might also look at...
Lunar Linux and Sourcemage both of them are forks of the Sorcerer project.
Distrowatch also has a section devoted to source based distributions that might be worth looking at if you're intrigued by the concept and want a side by side comparison of what's out there.

I tried it back before the great rift in the distro. It's nice, though I think for a source based distro Gentoo is a little better. I am sure that Sorceror has improved quite a bit in the last year but the speed of progress on Gentoo is mind-boggling.
Ended up going back to Slack though. I'll compile the important stuff but I don't necessarily want to compile everything.
