Installing packages from a live CD/DVD

Heya.
I'm wondering if anyone knows a way to install packages from a live CD/DVD. I have a live dvd that their are alot of apps I want off it, I would download them my self but I have very limited bandwidth. I have read about how to repackage the packages but I'm guessing this would be very time consuming picking through whats what. Any other options? Thanks

You're running Ubuntu, but what distro is the live CD/DVD? If it's Debian based, I should think you could use packages off it.

The live DVD is ArtistX 0.7, which is built off Ubuntu 8.10 so yes I can use the packages, but I dont know how to install the packages from the DVD to my computer. I knwo how to repackage them, well I have a page bookmarked with instrustions, but I'm not going to know what packages are dependent on others. Hope I am making sense.

Browse the CD/DVD and see if there are deb files.
In general they are located in the pool directory

To install
dpkg -i /mount/CD/pool/foo.deb

However, make sure you don't mix distributions and/or releases.

Good luck
