Installation problem? refresh rates

How do I find out the horizontal vertical refresh rates of a monitor Ibm 6547 01s 17inch screen I have no manual and havent found anything using google. Installation of redhat 7.0 failed because of this. Im now downloading redhat 8.0 but am guessing I will encounter the same problem. I have an agp video card geforce mx 400 with 64 mb ram video card.

Im a newbie to linux and know almost nothing about it.

Search the IBM website for a section on hardware, or products or whatever, then look for your model number. As long as the thing isn't ancient ibm should have the tech specs there somewhere, just ask 'em

Also, as you mentioned Redhat 8.0 will most likely do a better job of autodetecting you hardware.
