Install divx


HI

I am trying to install DIVX but it fails saying and I am using redhat es3 and 4. I can t find vlc-gui rpm any ware.


[root@ark divx]# rpm -ivh vlc-0.5.0-1.i386.rpm --aid
error: Failed dependencies:
vlc-gui is needed by vlc-0.5.0-1
vlc-plugin-mad is needed by vlc-0.5.0-1
vlc-plugin-a52 is needed by vlc-0.5.0-1
libavcodec.so is needed by vlc-0.5.0-1
libdvdplay.so.0 is needed by vlc-0.5.0-1
libdvdread.so.2 is needed by vlc-0.5.0-1

Can you use Yum to install that stuff? It automatically sort out deps and would be massively simpler.

There is a website that you might try at http://rpm.pbone.net. It will have pointers where you can download the dependency RPMs. Also, there may be different versions of libdvdread, etc that you can use to view your DVDs. I'm not familiar with RedHat, but sometimes the versions of apps like xmms and xine are compiled without mp3 and dvd support.
