Question hp printer

Does anyone know how to install the required files for an HP deskjet 630c printer? Step by step please. <Newbie, I am> HP doesn't seem to offer anything for this printer online for Linux. I'm using Red Hat if that makes a difference.

the drivers should already be on your system, go through the menu system in gnome or kde, and there should be a 'printer configuration' jobby somewhere, which will sort it out.

if it's not there, try typing printconf-gui (i THINK that's right.. don't count on it tho)

Unhappy not listed

my printer is not listed in the Linux system for drivers. Mine is a deskjet 630c. Is there another printer I can add that will be close enough to fake it?

Hello
Some HP printers use a proprietary postscript type thingy (like my 710c). I don't think the 630c is one of them. Run printtool, and try some drivers for hp printers other than the 710. The fonts etc may be missized with some, but trial and error should find one that works.

I must admit I was STUNNED that Mandrake hada driver for my 712C HP,
I mean that's kina odd, I mean windoze
doesn't have a driver for it..

But all i did to add mine was to goto
Mandrake Control Center, clicked on
Hardware, then I clicked on printer
put my #1 CD in and it loaded all the
drivers..and then I scrolled thru the large,
large list and wham bam--selected mine
and off it went!!!

I'm sure a 630 is in the list...it's way more common than a 712 is..
