What exactly is that, aalib? And what would be my question now is, how do I pause mplayer when I'm a different maximized application besides it is in focus? Anyway, it's not really that important, since I can easily pause it with the spacebar. I'm going to open up a just-for-fun thread and ask everyone what their favorite video background is, if that's allowed.

I've also been trying out xscreensaver as a background now, but I think I actually prefer video backgrounds more. It was strange, after I set all of the application-specific properties, nothing took effect. When I logged out and in, it was still there, but then it disappeared very quickly. After opening up the terminal and typing ps -A, I could see that it was still a running program, so I killed it. Right now I'm using Sureal from www.dreamscene.com

aalib is ASCII-art library -- it plays your video in ASCII characters only and gives, to my mind, a fun effect.
