How to make driver's settings persist across reboots

Hi,
I'm modifying a network device driver code, so that a user can change the driver's settings thru ioctls. However, I don't know how to ensure that the user's changes persist across reboot. - I mean when the user makes changes where to store them so that they can be read by the kernel at startup time.
Any help in this regard would be apprecaited.

Create a conf file and add it in your appropiate startup runlevel config files to be called upon during boot time.. rc.local works or any others you want to hack away at, depending on what distro your using.

Ok, but how do I get a device driver code executing in kernel space to read these user space files?

Not sure, I'm not a programmer. Perhaps you should learn how to hack kernel code.
