Question How to install Fidora 7 i386..NOOB

I am a total noob to Linux. It was suggested that I try Fidora 7 to host a web server for our Internet Cafe. I downloaded the files, I am able to burn them to DVD... Now what?

I have searched for a reasonably written installation FAQ but since I have never dealt with Linux up till now, most of the instructions go right over my head.

Is there a FAQ or book written specifically dealing with the installation of this OS? I am really anxious to try it out.

I have been working on computers for about 15 years but never got around to tinkering with non-Gates operating systems (as much as I LOATH Bill and his bloat-ware).

I have a PII-400 / 128 megs / 10GB / 8Mb Matrox AGP video (old) ,32x CDRom, Floppy... This was an old HP Kayak XA-s Workstation
Can someone help me out here?

Thanks

Arrow Yes... "Fedora"

Sorry, it has been a long day and my typing skills are suffering. I am trying to find a "plain english" installation guide for this OS... or if there is a better version/distribution of Linux that would be better suited to what I am trying to do...?

I really am a NOOB and any info is GREATLY appreciated at this point as the more I read, the more confused I get regarding whether it would just be better to have someone host the site rather than go to all the trouble. Having said that, I really enjoy a challenge and love to learn new things, so setting up a web server with a new OS would be a treat as long as I had a starting point...

Thanks

I realize that I "double posted" here... my bad, like I said, it's been a lonnng day. I appreciate the link to the user guide, but it doesn't answer the question of whether Fedora is the best OS for my application or not. Also, does anyone seee a problem with my hardware specs before I go and make a hash of things?

Thanks again

I have never set up a server but that's one thing I am going to tackle next. I feel sure that you will get a lot of answers on what is best. From the specs on your computer that you will set up as a server I would look at some of the distro's that offer a light weight window manager like xfce or windowmaker and Fedora may offer them. I use Slackware and from reading a lot of post I've noticed that it is used on a lot of servers but I've also noticed that it may not be the best for a newbie to start out with but then again I've managed to struggle thru most of the problems. I can say that it may be easy to make a mistake in Slackware on the install there is a big community of folks that you will help and the script style install is not really that hard to handle in my opinion.

Let me know if I can help.

Ok... pretend I have never worked with Linux previously ...

I have no idea what is required to install Slackware... I do have a copy of Fedora 7 i386 and have read the user/install guide. The toughest challenge I face is the "newbie" factor. I can't tell you the number of things I did wrong learning all the tricks to Winblows...

I guess I will just ry it and see what happens. I have a whole bunch of people willing to help the "village idiot" when I screw it up...

Thanks for the reply, I will keep everyone posted on the progress.
