How to edit the width of the MAC OS style bar

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to change the size of the Mac OS syle bar at the top of the screen. The problem I am having is that some icons that appear in the system tray are wider than the bar itself. It looks bad that way.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, in KDE 3.4. I have enabled it in the KDE control center's desktop behavior tab. I am also running baghira and a custom icon theme called OS-L. The system tray is in the top menu bar instead of the bottom panel.
