Question How does .bash_history works?

Well, how does .bash_history log commands? Does anyone knows how it logs from the moment that somone execute a command to when he writes that in the file. What happens if u delete .bash_history ? It's a _very_ usefull peace of file so i need to know how does it work.

I hope i didn't complicated to much

afaik bash stores commands in each session in memory and then writes them to the history file when that particular session of bash is closed. techinically ".bash_history" doesn't "work" it's just a dumb text file...
