Smile i think we're getting there

i think i'm finally getting somewhere.
alright, i linked /dev/modem to one of them "ttys" ( is it possible that it's ttyS2 ??! )and then configured the connection to the internet through kppp. but when i tried to connect i got a message "sorry modem is busy".(when i tried the same with ttyS0 and ttyS1 i got a message "can't find modem or modem is not configured correctly").
so, what now?

Are you sure that the modem is NOT internal?? Is it a USB external modem?? I only ask this because the two serial ports which allow external modems to be added are mostly always on ttyS0 and ttyS1.

What modem is it(make and manufacturer)?
