I attempted to upgrade my RH9 to FC2 today.
Everything went fine, EXCEPT I did the wrong thing
when it came to the boot loader. It gave me 3
options, one was to update (I think), ignore, or
re-install. Since I was upgrading, "update" seemed
like a good choice.
Now when I rebooted my system, Windows was
listed in the grub boot loader, however FC2 was not.
After playing around with grub.conf, I have added
the entry for FC2, but when it comes to trying to
run the "initrd /initrd-version.img file, it says it can't
find it.
Well, I can't find the file either, it's almost like it
wasn't installed on the system.
I'm lost, and would love some direction, I DO have a
/boot partition. I can't just re-install everything, as
I do have a few gigs worth of necessary files.
It seems then that the upgrade to FC2 removed your initrd.img. You can make a new one with /sbin/mkinitrd. Check the FC2 documentation for instructions on how to make a new initrd.
If you don't have instructions, this link to RedHat has instructions. http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...el-initrd.html
cool, it's fine, just don't include the initrd image in your grub.conf file , try booting i thk it should work , in case it does'nt then u can try making the initrd image in the kernel src dir.
cd /usr/src/linux-version/
use the mkinitrd then copy the initrd image file to the boot partition and then try out, should be able to boot.
