g++ compiler

Hello, my linux redhat 7.3 box doesn't recognize the command g++ but it does recognize gcc. I have installed the gcc-2.96-113.i386.rpm package and all it's dependencies. I did 'man gcc' and in the manual page there is g++ but whenever i type in 'g++' it doesn't recognize...can anyone help? Please...thank you very much.. THANK YOU...

try slocate g++ to see if it is somewhere, and then try the command from where it is ( ./g++).
I have never heard of an "incomplete" package (with only the C compiler, LOL), but why dont you compile the hole gcc source??

Wow that was quick! Anyhow, i did 'slocate g++' and it says "/usr/lib/ligb++.so.2.7.2.8" and
"/usr/lib/ligb++.so.2.7.2".

I then tried ./g++ but it doesn't work. Kinda new to the linux world so bare with me please . I'm installing the compiler because im taking programming classes. Also, u stated that why dont i compile the whole gcc source code? I dont understand.

Anyhow, and other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I dont want to give up Linux and I'm willing to learn as long as there is help Thank you!

I just did a ls | grep g++ ( sends the output of ls to grep, which searches for the inputs with g++ on it, very useful command, by the way, | is the pipe!!) and I found g++ there. So I am afraid you dont have it, strangely enough.
Your solution might be compiling a gcc ( get the newest version 3.2.1) your find a RPM with the whole thing!

I believe some distros separate gcc, g++, g77, gcj, gnat, etc.

Look for a g++ package.
