export LANG=C doesn't stick

I've discovered that doing:

export LANG=C

solves many of my aterm issues so I added:

export LANG=C

to my /etc/profile file thinking that this would cause LANG to be set to C every time. For some reason beyond me it always defaults back to en_US.UTF-8 .

Hmmm...

P.S. I'm using bash

Add it to your bashrc (or any other script run when you log in). It seems that LANG is set to UTF-8 after running /etc/profiles.

Interesting...it works thanks. I wonder why it tells you to export paths in the /etc/profile yet it doesn't work.
