enlightenment customization

I have a few questions about how to customize some things in Enlightenment. I am currently runnin the version that comes with Mandrake 9.0, which I believe is 16.5. So here are the questions I have.

Can I change it so that a right click on the desktop brings up the applications menu and CTRL-leftclick brings up the enlightenment settings?

Also how can I place "buttons" on my desktop? I just want a couple in the corner of my desktop for my most used apps like eterm and such.

The only thing I have found is something about epplets, but I haven't been able to get them to work. I appreciate any help people can offer!

I can't remember a whole lot about all of the this stuff as it's been quite a while since I ran E on the desktop. But here's what I remember:

-- I believe that changing the binding for the different menus was possible but you'll have to dig through the configuration files to see how to do that. Documentation for customizing E sort of stunk or was non-existent. And it hasn't gotten any better I'm afraid.

-- I may be wrong but don't recall that putting buttons on the desktop was possible.

-- Epplets were sort of cranky. You had to have a version that exactly matched your version of E or they wouldn't work. I had most of them working at one time but IIRC many of them were such a pitb to use what with the tiny, tiny buttons and impossible to read text that I tended to avoid them (the `flame' cpu load monitor was sort of neat though).

BTW, I read a recent interview with Rasterman and it appears that v17 is actually being worked on again. The E site seemed pretty stagnant as nothing new appeared to have been added for well over a year. V16.5 has been considered the latest stable release for about 2-1/2 years. An eternity! Hope it's not another case of too little too late as now most people have enough horsepower on their desk to actually make E work well.
