Gnome customization

I have a couple questions about setting up GNOME (v2.4 on SuSE 9.1):

1) Is there a way to combine the "Applications" and "Actions" menus into one?
2) Can I add "Shutdown" to the "Actions" menu so I don't have to "Logout" then use KDM to shut down the computer?
3) Everytime I log out, GNOME asks me if I want to save my current settings. Can I have it default to always save settings instead of clicking the check box every time?
4) There are 4 icons on my desktop corresponding to some of my mounted drives. Not *all* of my mounted drives -- just some (4). How can I set some of the drives to not show up (or conversely, how can I make the other drives show up)?

Any help is appreciated.
