Email notification (new email) for Screen status bar?

Hi, I was thinking that it could be cool to add this to the screenrc, with a scheduled fetchmail -c, and if new email there, to add to the status, maybe with "backtick" 100 5 5 cat ~/.newemail ?

If you have any code, please post, this surely will be helpful.

~/.screenrc is the config.

That should work. You could have it point to a custom shell script as well that checks mail, etc.

Code:
backtick 100 5 5 <path to bash script that checks mail here>
But ultimately, I'm gonna say stop using screen and start using tmux, it's like screen on crack, way better.
