dump is delete my data


Hi all.

Once i trying make backup from my home.
I type

dump 0f /dev/sda6 /home/l4e

But i forget that patition /dev/sda6 is not empty.
Now my data is lost. How i can restore my data on /dev/sda6 partition.

If you have previous backups, you can restore, if not, then it's probably not worth the hassle and you'll just need to accept the fact that your data is gone. Lessons are taught by your own actions, let this be a lesson to you, don't perform dumps on partitions that have data you need or don't have backups of..
