Does modprobe timeout if device fails, or does it just hang there forever?
I'm aware that the title doesn't make much sense, but it's the best I can think of. My problem is that I was trying to connect my USB 2.0 hard drive to my fileserver, and like it often does, it screwed up. After running modprobe ehci-hcd successfully, I ran modprobe usb-storage to register the drive. However, it hung up while scanning the partition table, leaving me with a totally hosed USB interface and an unusable terminal. The drive survived though.
So, do I have to reboot the system to restore sanity, or will this time out eventually?
