DNS and Telnet problem

hi all,

im trying to connect to a DNS server via telnet. my workstation
is defined so i have no problems but if other workstations
connect to it, it takes about 30min for them to get in. my named.conf does not contain any ACL options. other workstations uses DHCP. how can i open up my DNS server so other users can get in faster.

thanks.

sorry about that.. let me rephrase.. im trying to telnet to server an IBM AIX box. this server is configured as a DNS server bind 9. when i telnet to that server using my workstation, i get a login prompt right away because my workstation IP has an entry on the DNS server BUT when other hosts try to telnet it takes like 30min for them to get a login prompt. the problem is no ACLs were configured on the named.conf file. and i cannot make an entry to other workstations because the are on DHCP.

Are the workstations accessing it via the server's name or the ip address? Try accessing telnet via the ip address and see if it is still slow. Are all the workstations on the same LAN or are they external. What is the default domain in DHCP? What domain is the telnet server located in?

telnet using IP. i think the DNS server checks if the incoming host has an entry on the server then goes to named.cache thats why it takes too long. im looking for a way to bypass this checking without shutting down DNS
